Christmas Light Installation in Rockwood

Christmas light installation in Rockwood and the Guelph/Eramosa countryside around it, east of the city along Highway 7.

Rockwood is a village in the Township of Guelph/Eramosa, set around the Eramosa River and the limestone of Rockwood Conservation Area, with older houses near the main street and newer subdivisions around the edge. Like Guelph, it is served by Alectra Utilities, so the same OEB prices and the same off-peak evenings apply. The newer streets suit permanent lighting for the same reasons as Guelph's south end: long eaves and high peaks. Rural lots outside the village are a different job: long single-storey rooflines on farmhouses and bungalows, outbuildings, and spruce or cedar windbreaks that make a dramatic display draped with lights. Outlets on rural houses can be far from where the lights need to be, so power is planned first. Install days are routed so Rockwood houses are done in daylight, not squeezed in at dusk.

Frequently asked questions

Do you cover Rockwood, Fergus and Elora?

Yes. Rockwood, Fergus, Elora and the countryside between them are quoted on the same terms as the city. Longer drives are planned into route days so rural installs are not squeezed in at dusk.

Are the electricity prices the same outside the city?

The OEB's regulated prices are the same across Ontario. Guelph and Rockwood are served by Alectra; other townships may have a different distributor with different delivery charges, which are on your own bill.

Do heritage rules apply in Fergus and Elora?

Centre Wellington has its own heritage register and designations, separate from Guelph's. Seasonal clip-on lights do not alter a building; for permanent lighting on a stone downtown building or a designated house, check with the Township first.
